Hwaet!

Welcome to the blog of English 311 (the early Brit lit survey) at the University of Michigan-Dearborn for Fall 2012! Please check this space for updates regarding the course, uploaded assignments and documents, and resources for students, scholars, and teachers. For now, a bit of useful information:

Our course textbook will be the Norton Anthology of English Literature (ed. Greenblatt, et al), 8th ed., vol 1. This is available in one gigantic hardback version, as seen here, and in two paperback versions, as seen here and here. The two paperback volumes are available at the Dearborn campus bookstore. We will also be reading Shakespeare's Macbeth (not anthologized in the Norton), so I've ordered the Norton Critical Edition of Macbeth, which will arrive at the Dearborn bookstore post haste. Please feel free to purchase any edition of Macbeth (or to use one you already own)... so long as it is not abridged or radically adapted. It will also be useful for you to have an MLA handbook, though you can also find MLA citation format on the web, as on the Purdue OWL site.
